A Career in Bartending

Bars in New Jersey are always busy. People enjoy the bar atmosphere, whether they are celebrating good times or to lift their spirits during the bad times. Bartending in New Jersey may very well be the recession-proof career. Bartending offers flexible scheduling, great pay and job security.

Pay is always a consideration when choosing a career, and bartenders have great earning potential. A skilled bartender can earn three to four hundred dollars a week part-time and between five to eight hundred dollars a week full-time. These figures are considerably higher than many entry-level positions with large corporations and other careers that require more extensive (and expensive) education and training.

Bartending allows people the freedom to choose a work environment that matches their personality. A good bartender can work anywhere in the country, or in the world. Some NJ bartenders prefer the hotel or country club environment, others want to be in the hottest nightclubs, and some just want to work in a friendly neighborhood pub.

At the Mixology Wine Institute (MWI) in Cherry Hill, NJ we have created programs to answer that demand. We provide the education, the speed, the organizational skills as well as customer service and alcohol awareness.

Bartending Job Placement

MWI in Cherry Hill offers a thorough and sophisticated Job Placement Program as a courtesy to our graduates. Our Job Placement is divided into two parts.

• Personalized Job Placement - Which is tailored to the establishments the graduate is interested in.
• Online Job Placement - A constantly updated and easily accessible online website. Our general job resource.

Our counselors are available at all times to assist our graduates. In addition, we have over 90 locations across the country should our graduates decide to relocate.

PBSA currently has 32 campuses of our own and have contracted with 56 additional campuses to mutually help each other's graduates. We have signed, written contracts for placement services at these additional campuses and monitor them for their results. We feel we have the best schools for placement in the industry.

The Mixology Wine Institute is dedicated to a thorough training program, designed to give each student a comprehensive up-to-date understanding of the bartending field. Professional bartenders are expected to be well versed in the proper mixing of cocktails, wine & beer service, bar operation and management, ordering supplies, handling monies, liquor laws, customer service and responsible bar service. MWI provides the student with the opportunity to develop these skills and enter this field as a professional.

Our first Philadelphia bartending school opened in 1991. We have been training professional bartenders in the greater Philadelphia and New Jersey areas for 20 years. We are very proud of the great bartending jobs our graduates have received. Many of our graduates are now managers and owners of some of New Jersey's best bars!

Mixology Wine Institute locations in the Mid-Atlantic region cover Southeast Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. There are three locations in the Philadelphia metropolitan area for your convenience: Philadelphia Main bartending school is located on City Ave., and our Cherry Hill, New Jersey bartending school is located at the Barclay Farms Shopping Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

In addition, we have a bartending school in the historic district of Bethlehem PA, serving Allentown and the greater Lehigh Valley area.
